Vrindavan, 2015.12.12 (VT): The week-long protest against the illegal takeover of the world-famous Banke Bihari temple by the U.P. Government has finally ended on Friday. Baba Siyaramdas Maharaj, who is the spiritual master of the ruling party’s general secretary Shri Ram Gopal Yadav personally visited the temple to assuage the protesters. He was accompanied by the Vrindavan Municipality’s chairman Mukesh Gautam.
Baba said that he learned the details of the cause of the agitation and has spoken with the Ruling (Samajwadi) Party’s General Secretary Shri Ramgopal Yadav. Baba also said that the government has expressed no intention to take over the Banke Bihari temple and that it will not do so. If at all any betterments need to be made, the temple authorities will certainly be consulted. He also comforted the agitators by stating that he is himself a Vrajavasi and is even willing to lay down his life if the government attempts a takeover of the temple.
Since Baba Siyaramdas is widely respected by all devotees, his words were enough to stop the protest. A group of Goswamis are also planning to visit the government authorities in Lucknow to obtain a clarification on the matter. Siya Ram Baba is a well known saint who lives in Govardhan and an ardent devotee of Hanuman ji.
