Vrindavan 2016.05.24 (VT): Shravan Kumar alias Kailash Giri left Jabalpur 20 years back to take his blind mother Kirti Devi on pilgrimage to the Char Dham (the four abodes, usually Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath) as well as to other sacred places in the country.
After visiting Vrindavan, taking his mother for darshan at Banke Bihari, the two of them left for Nandgaon on Monday. They will go to Barsana and then return to Jabalpur for the first time in twenty years. The pilgrimage has taken them to Puri, Dwarka, Rameshwar and Badrinath, the four Dhams established by Shankaracharya in the four corners of India, as well as to countless other holy spots in the subcontinent.
At Banke Bihari, a pathway was cleared for him and the VIP gallery opened so he could have darshan of Bihariji.
Shravan Kumar stayed at the Balaji guest house in Sunday in Vrindavan and left Monday morning after prayers and breakfast. Many activists and social workers also came to the guest house to meet him and take the blessings of his mother. They also gave gifts of daily need items and food to them for their journey ahead. The social workers said that everyone shoud be as devotional towards their parents as Kailash Giri is, and that the western culture is destroying filial piety in India.
Kailash Giri said, “I pray that India’s youth will get inspiration from my deed. I will also attain inner peace after visiting the Char Dham.” He also said that even after completing this journey, he would continue to spend the rest of his life dedicated to the service of his mother.
As a part of his dedicated service to his mother, Giri has renounced the pleasures of marriage and taken a vow of brahmacharya.
When they left for Nandgaon, a huge crowd followed behind them. VHP leader Saurabh Gaur was among those present to meet him at Balaji guest house.
