Vrindavan,2016. 04.20 (VT): The detailed project report (DPR) for developing Vrindavan into a Model City received a green signal by the Divisional Commissioner Shri Pradeep Bhatnagar on Wednesday. The coordinated proposal prepared by the different government departments worth Rs. 515 crore was submitted in the meeting for Commissioner’s approval. The proposal includes dealing with the growing challenges of urbanization, public grievance, providing facilities for the pilgrims and tourists, dealing with the water logging by making robust drainage system, recycling of the domestic waste, lightening etc.
The model city project was outlined according to the wishes of the State Government of Uttar Pradesh. The suggestions were also taken from the inhabitants and stakeholders of Vrindavan. After conducting the field surveys of the respective locations for the project implementation, a Rs. 514.96 crore project DPR was prepared by the various departments. The DPR was cleared in the high powered meeting chaired by the Divisional Commissioner.
The meeting called in the MVDA conference room, was attended by the District Magistrate Shri Rajesh Kumar, Vice Chairman of the MVDA, Shri Chandra Prakash Singh, officials from the Matahura – Vrindavan Development authority, the Police department, Public Works Department, Irrigation department etc. The Divisional Commissioner gave clearance to the DPR with slight amendments. He instructed the Vrindavan Municipality to establish an electric crematorium.
The Vrindavan Municipality proposed to establish a Municipal Solid Waste Disposal Plant, costing Rupees Twenty Five Crore, which received the nod in the meeting, with a condition that the garbage from the townships outside the Vrindavan Municipal limits will also be allowed to be disposed in this plant.
In its presentation, the Mathura Vrindavan Development Authority said that its initial thrust would be an alternate route connecting Vrindavan with the National Highway 2. A total amount of Rs. 39 crore will be spent to build this road from the Garud Govind Temple, connecting the Jaint police chowki to Sunrakh village via Nagla Ram Taal. The road leading to 100 bedded hospitals from the Rukmini Vihar parking would also be given a facelift. The Mathura Vrindavan Development Authority would now coordinate the work and the different departments will come under one umbrella.
The MVDA will provide two golf carts to the tourism department to ferry people to the temples from the car parking on the weekends and on the days of major festivals when the outside vehicles are not allowed in the town. One way traffic plan for Vrindavan was also submitted and approved by the committee.
The irrigation department will spend Rs. 220 crore on the River Front Development Project, under which new ghats will be constructed. Underground power supply, establishment of three ATM RO plants, Public convenience on the Parikrama Marg and other amenities are also included in the plan.
